2026 Review
What a fantastic 42nd Art Show.
We were delighted to welcome 81 artists this year, exhibiting 209 main pieces of work to display, and 142 unframed items to go in the browsers. Many artists and visitors said they felt the overall quality was up again this year, and our increase in sales reflected this. Indeed, over half the artists at the show sold at least one item, which is a fantastic achievement.
The Preview Evening started the weekend off and once again attracted large numbers of visitors who came along to enjoy a glass of fizz, some cake and to look at the amazing array of work on show.
On Saturday and Sunday we continued to have lots of visitors, who also took advantage of the lovely homemade cakes and savouries as well as buying raffle tickets, which had some generous prizes given by various local businesses.
This year we worked with Susan Hammond from Kinoulton School who selected 12 marvelous pictures by their children to be displayed. This was a huge success and attracted many parents, grandparents not to mention many children too.
We were delighted to work with Fine & Country who again kindly sponsored the whole event this year. The Artwork was Judged by Julia Harwood, and Laz Grillo from Fourwalls Gallery chose an artist whose work is to be shown in his Gallery in Melton. Visitors had the opportunity to select the People’s Choice and they chose “Silent Lynx” by Andrea Naylor, whilst Best in Show was awarded to Louise Burt with “Copper Cup with Pears”. The Fourwalls prize was awarded to Marie Brown with “Wild Horses”.
We would like to thank everyone who helped in making the show such a huge success including the sponsors, judges, raffle prize donors, the team organising the preview evening and the many who donated cakes and other items of food, plus those who helped serve during the event. Let’s also not forget the ‘behind the scenes’ team who ran the finances, helped design, advertise, hang the paintings, sell the artwork, organise the catering, put items on the village websites, contact the artists, produced the flyers, sell tickets, etc. and anyone else we may have missed!
The Upper Broughton Art Show is the biggest event in our village calendar, bringing many people together for the benefit of the Village Hall and residents. This is a major fundraising event, and all profits go the Village Hall funds to help keep it running.
